Copywriter

What you bring

Copywriting flair and experience – you can persuade, inform, engage, and entertain an audience. You have excellent communication and collaboration skills and the ability to work independently and manage your time effectively.  Being comfortable with feedback and open to making revisions is key, initially, in order to produce the best possible copy, as you learn the brands.

What you’ll do

Write compelling copy: Write copy that meets the needs of the organization. This may include writing service and product descriptions, website content, marketing materials, social media posts, and other types of written content.

Research: Research on target audience, industry trends, and product features to create effective copy. Keep up with industry trends: including new marketing techniques, changes in consumer behavior, and emerging technologies, to create effective copy.

Develop brand voice and messaging: Create and ensure consistency in the brand voice and messaging across all communication channels.

Collaborate: Work closely with designers, marketers, and other team members to ensure that copy is visually appealing and aligned with the organization’s overall messaging.

Edit and proofread: You may be responsible for editing and proofreading your work, as well as the work of others, to ensure that it is error-free and meets the organization’s standards.

Adhere to style guidelines: Ensure that you write consistent and professional copy that adhere to style guidelines, such as AP Style or Chicago Style.

Meet deadlines: Manage your time effectively and meet deadlines, often working on multiple projects simultaneously.

What you’ve got

  • 5+ years copywriting, editing and strategic communications experience, preferably in an agency, marketing or communications environment.
  • Post-secondary education in journalism, communications, media or marketing.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively review copy, making substantive copy and content edits, and working closely with writers to ensure submissions meet high editorial standards. Impeccable attention to detail is essential.
  • Ability to take constructive criticism well and implement internal and client feedback.
  • Ability to work in a very fast-paced environment and adept at balancing a high volume of tasks, priorities and deadlines.
  • Strong familiarity with Microsoft solutions (O365, Teams, OneNote, SharePoint, Dynamics) is preferred
